Ground broadcasting service of GK2A

GEO-KOMPSAT-2A Data Formats and Volumes

The NMSC of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) has developed a ground segment that can receive data from the GK2A spacecraft, generate real-time GK2A meteorological and space weather products, and disseminate data via the GK2A broadcasting system. The cutting-edge information and communication technologies and scientific capabilities of the center enable the processing of vast volumes of GK2A data in real-time, tailored to the user requirements. The data disseminated via GK2A include all 16 channels of meteorological data in ultra HRIT (UHRIT) format, as well as HRIT/LRIT broadcasting corresponding to five channels of COMS.
