President of National Meteorological Satellite Center, Kim Hyun-kyung

Welcome to
National Meteorological Satellite Center (NMSC)

The GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK2A, located in 128.2 E) magnaged by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) began operation at 00 UTC on 25 July, 2019, and succeeded to the COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) mission monitoring the atmospheric envirionment over Asia-Pacific region. NMSC expects that GK2A will contribute to monitoring the weather-related disaster in its early stages and also utilized in various fields such as climate change monitoring, hydrology and so on.

It is a turning point for us to climb to the level of advanced countries of weather satellites' operation.

NMSC will play the important roles of monitoring the global environment and coping with climate changes. Specifically, it collects GK2A's meteorological and space weather observation data, analyzes meteorological phenomena, produces and provides diversified high-quaity products for many global users via a satellite and Internet.

We will enhance public welfare and listen attentively to the voice of people in open mindset to protect their lives and properties.
Thank you.
