Introduction
The aim of DBNet(Direct Broadcast Network) is to provide near real-time access to near-global data from LEO(Low Earth Orbit) satellites,
in order to meet the timeliness requirements of regional and global NWP(Numerical Weather Prediction) and other applications in a cost-efficient manner.
The goal of DBNet activity is to provide NWP centers with ATOVS data received at DBNet direct readout stations within 30 minutes of data acquisition.
DBNet is expanding the RARS(Regional ATOVS Retransmission Services) concept to other data types in support of a wider range of applications.
The list of current and potential DBNet services is as follows.
Categories of Services | Services(Instruments) |
---|---|
IR/MW sounding | ATOVS(AMSU-A, MHS, HIRS), ATMS, VASS(MWTS/2, MWHS/2, IRAS) |
IR/VIS imaging | VIIRS, AVHRR, MERSI |
Hyperspectral IR sounding | CrIS, IASI, HIRAS, AIRS |
Scatterometry | ASCAT, Wind RAD |
MW imagery | MWRI |
The KMA contribution to DBNet
The service offered by Jincheon site to the DBNet community consists of:
- ATOVS(AMSU-A, MHS, HIRS) data of NOAA-18, NOAA-19, METOP-1(B), METOP-2(A)
- IASI data of METOP-1(B), METOP-2(A)
- ATMS and CrIS data of S-NPP
